OUR HISTORY

American Unity Fund was established in 2012 to advance freedom for all Americans, regardless of sexual orientation or religion, in defense of our social compact and constitutional values. We have successfully worked from the Right to forge alliances, advance legislation, and craft legal scholarship in order to secure marriage and other protections for millions of LGBT Americans, while preserving the rights of all Americans to speak and worship freely.

Our accomplishments include…

  • In Washington — Working with Congressional champions to pass the Respect for Marriage Act, to promote Fairness for All, and to advance human rights overseas; helping support leaders like Sen. Susan Collins, Senator Rob Portman, Rep. Celeste Maloy, Rep. Kat Cammack, Rep. Dan Newhouse, Rep. Tony Gonzales, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, and Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, whose unique cross-over appeal we have been able to amplify in their states and districts.

  • In the States — Amplifying the voices of pro-freedom conservatives in state houses like New Hampshire, Minnesota, Arizona, Rhode Island, Utah, Missouri, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wyoming, North Carolina, Delaware, and New York, where Republican lawmakers played decisive roles in securing same-sex marriage and protecting religious freedom.

  • In the Courts — American Unity Fund has coauthored multiple amicus curiae briefs for landmark Supreme Court cases such as Masterpiece Cakeshop and 303 Creative LLC that illustrate the nuanced yet principled positions of AUF as an organization standing at the crossroads of religious liberty, civil rights, and free expression.

  • In our Communities — Forging bonds with religious liberty organizations, including churches and synagogues around the nation, to advance common cause and secure individual freedoms while also protecting our foundational American social compact.

As LGBT Americans who care about the freedom for all, including freedom of religion and freedom of conscience, we are deeply alarmed at the shifts in public perceptions of LGBT priorities. American Unity Fund is forging ahead in 2025 to combat the medicalization of American youth in the name of “LGBT Rights,” and once again lead the way with reputable gay and transgender voices for sanity and balance in our public policy.
