RELEASE: American Unity Fund Issues First Slate of 2026 Endorsements to Pro-Freedom Conservatives
WASHINGTON, D.C. — American Unity Fund, an advocacy organization that has played a crucial role in advancing freedom for all Americans since 2012, today announced endorsements in four federal races where pro-LGBT incumbents are up for reelection in November.
"Senator Susan Collins and Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Lawler and Andrew Garbarino represent the best of the Pro-Freedom Movement,” said Tyler Deaton, Senior Advisor for American Unity Fund. “Each of these leaders has proven, through their votes and their voices, that their commitment to liberty extends to all Americans. They don't just talk about freedom, they vote for it.”
“When it mattered most, Senator Collins and Reps. Fitzpatrick, Garbarino and Lawler have shown up for gay Americans, transgender Americans, and Americans of faith as well,” said Deaton.
The four endorsed conservative incumbents are:
Sen. Susan Collins (ME) —
American Unity Fund has endorsed Sen. Collins since her 2014 race, and she has earned an endorsement again in 2026 as she runs for reelection. Sen. Collins has been supporting all Mainers before it was popular to do so, is consistently named as the most bipartisan Senator in the country, and is a leading center-right voice and champion of freedom in the Republican caucus.
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) —
Rep. Fitzpatrick has repeatedly crossed the aisle to defend the rights and dignity of LGBT Americans, and co-chaired the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. Rep. Fitzpatrick fought for the freedom to marry and serve in our military and supported nondiscrimination protections for gay and transgender Americans. American Unity Fund has proudly endorsed Rep. Fitzpatrick in prior cycles and is honored to do so again in 2026.
Rep. Andrew Garbarino (NY-02) —
Rep. Garbarino has demonstrated that conservatism is consistent with support for LGBT equality, including by serving in the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. He has built a record of standing up for freedom for New Yorkers and nationally during his time in Congress, advocating for the rights of all of his constituents.
Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17) —
Rep. Lawler has distinguished himself as a thoughtful and independent legislator who consistently backs the rights of gay and transgender Americans, including helping establish the Respect for Marriage Act to protect our right to marry. He has been a consistent champion for freedom and dignity for all Americans while in Congress, and has earned the American Unity Fund endorsement.
